Koenigsegg Gemera; The world’s first Mega-GT

Koenigsegg Automotive AB is a manufacturer of high-performance sports cars, based in Ängelholm, Skåne County, Sweden. Gemera is a limited production four-seat plug-in hybrid grand tourer to be manufactured by Koenigsegg. It was unveiled on 3 March 2020 at an online broadcast by Koenigsegg at the canceled Geneva Motor Show. Thanks to the lack of B-pillars, the Gemera’s cabin is essentially unobstructed for both front and rear passengers to enter or exit, with no need to move the front seats to get in and out of the rear. It has a Steering wheel with leveled graphics screen in the center.

The Gemera yields a combined power output of 1700 bhp or 1.27 MW. Power output from the three motors – one for each rear wheel producing 500 bhp and 1000 Nm, and one E-motor on the crankshaft that produces an extra 400 bhp and 500 Nm to power the front wheels – add up to 1400 bhp as individuals and 1100 bhp when combined. The Gemera’s 2-liter 3-cylinder dry sumped twin-turbo Freevalve engine named the Tiny Friendly Giant (or TFG for short) adds another 450 kW or 600 bhp and 600 Nm of torque. The range on hybrid mode is 950 km (590 mi) and the engine can run on both E85 biofuel and gasoline and has a titanium exhaust system manufactured by Akrapovič. All-wheel steering and torque vectoring the 3000 mm wheelbase give unprecedented comfort and straight-line stability. Koenigsegg claims the Gemera will sprint from 0-62 mph in 1.9 seconds and reach speeds in excess of 240 mph. Only 300 will be built, and expect it to cost somewhere in the region of €1.7m.
