Bugatti La Voiture Noire: The world's most expensive new car

La Voiture Noire, which arrives in 2019 Geneva Motor Show, is a modern interpretation of Jean Bugatti’s personal Type 57 SC Atlantic that got lost during World War II. This new version of the car, however, was designed as a one-off to celebrate the French brand's 110th anniversary.

Featuring a handcrafted carbon fiber body, the La Voiture Noire follows recent special cars from Bugatti such as the Divo, but takes exclusivity to a whole new level. It uses the same quad-turbo W16 8.0-liter engine with 1,500 horsepower and 1,600 Newton-meters (1,180 pound-feet) of torque as the Chiron, Chiron Sport, and Divo.

La Voiture Noire had already been sold for an astounding US$12.3 million plus another $6.4 million in taxes and fees. Previously, the most expensive new car ever sold was a $13 million Rolls Royce Sweptail. It was also a one-off coupe.
